A sudden injury or illness is hard enough to cope with on its own. Add the stress from dealing with insurance companies and paperwork, and life can seem overwhelming very quickly.
When you work with National Insurance Services of Wisconsin, Inc., and our partner insurance carrier, Madison National Life Insurance Company, Inc. (MNL), you have two public sector specialists working for you. MNL understands your world. When the unexpected occurs, you will experience a high level of expertise and care like never before.
MNL recognizes the differences between a kindergarten teacher’s job versus a high-school teacher’s, or how an elected official differs from a permanent civic employee. Alongside NIS, they work with public employees every day. This lets them quickly evaluate the impact that one worker’s disability can have on the rest of your employees.
Right from the start, we customize your plan, adding common safeguards we’ve learned from years of experience working with organizations like yours. Non-standard benefits and/or collective bargaining agreements can impact return-to-work programs. No cookie-cutter plans here.
Almost every plan we write has dual offsets (Social Security Disability and State Retirement Plan Disability Benefits). This means that we are intimately familiar with each states’ plans and understand how the coordination of those benefits work in conjunction with Worker’s Compensation.
It is important that these offsets are taken into consideration to prevent overpayment of benefits (more income off the job than on the job). Overpayment of benefits may result in higher employer premiums and a lower incentive for employees to return to work.
Because of our experience with school districts and other governmental organizations, MNL's Claim Specialists perform in-house reviews that confirm or modify the course of action based simply on the treating physician’s evaluation. Only if a claim is in question or needs clarification will we request an external medical review.
Your employee may be able to return to work faster thanks to MNL's FastTrack Return-to-Work program. This innovative program offers an online tool that assists individuals in finding alternative employment. Employees can use the program to help define their interests and abilities, then find employers in their area who can accommodate their disability.
Due to increases in diagnostic accuracy and advances in medical care options, claims management is focused on rehabilitation intervention. Claims Specialists have access to many resources, such as vocational assistance and worksite modification programs to assist with returning to active employment.
You can expect to be contacted by MNL within 5 days after they receive all the needed information about your claim: claim form, employer statement, and treating physician statement.
No more frustration of being passed around and having to explain your case over and over again every time you call. Your employee will work with the same MNL claims professional throughout the duration of his or her disability. This means s/he is treated like a person, not like another case. And thanks to a high commitment to customer service, both you and your employee can expect a response to your questions within one business day.
As a medical advocate, Claims Specialists may be the first positive, supportive and recovery-focused voice your employees talk to during their disability. Opportunities are maximized to help restore his/her outlook on disability management and resuming a productive life, both socially and vocationally.
